My name is Pei Kang and I am 30 years old and live in upstate New York.

 I was born with a rare and unique congenital heart disease called Tetralogy of Fallot with pulmonary atresia. My condition basically means I have a two chamber heart instead of four, and a missing pulmonary artery. According to doctors, I was not supposed to live beyond two weeks old. Surgery was one option doctors presented to my parents, but chances of surviving were less than one percent.  My parents decided against surgery, and due to their decision at that time, Karma, almost seventeen years of healthy lifestyle I lived and thrived.

 I also survived a recent heart attack, which happened in May of 2006.

My first novel, Legacy of Fire and Wind: Fires Within was published under my greatest physical battle in July of 2006.
